Great fighters will train and prepare before going into battle. The same can be said about athletes who practice long before entering their first game. To defend your self against trouble and pain this world has to offer we too should prepare before facing trials on our own. The Bible gives us what we need to help us endure and survive many of the problems we face in our lives.

Studying God’s word is yet another step toward building our spiritual lives. A psalmist wrote that God’s word gives light and understanding to the child-like (Psalms 119:130). For with study of the Bible you can make better decisions and build and strengthen your relationship with Christ. Peter described our desire to grow spiritually should be similar to how newborns crave milk (1 Peter 2:2).

Today the Bible has been translated into over 2400 languages. There are now websites (such as YouVersion and BibleGateway) devoted to making many of the translations free and assessable. Therefore find a way that works for you and read daily.  We recommend the following translations: ESV (English Standard Version), CSB (Christian Standard Bible), NASB (New American Standard Bible), and NLT (New Living Translation).  If you are looking for a place to start in the Bible, we suggest that you start to read through the Gospel of John.  There are also other great Bible reading plans found here.
